  1. A woman serving a life sentence was unhappy about her situation. She knew she had to find a way out of her predicament or, as she told herself, she would commit suicide. Over the years, she had made friends with one of the jailers, whose duty, among others, was to bury the dead prisoners in the prison cemetery, just outside the prison walls. Whenever a prisoner died, a bell would be rung. The dead body would be put into a coffin in a dark room; the jailer would go to his office, fill some forms, then proceed to the room and nail the coffin shut before it would be carried in a wagon to be buried.
One day the woman shared her plan with the jailer. When next the bell rings, she would steal her way to the dark room, get into the coffin with the dead body before the jailer comes to nail the lid shut. She knew she would have enough time to breath before the jailer would come, under the shadow of darkness, to set her free.
The jailer didn't know what to make of her plans, but after much persuasion, he agreed.
She was sleeping in her cell one day when the death-bell rang. She quickly rose, picked the lock of her cell, and hurried to the room. She was almost caught twice. She, after much difficulty, located the coffin containing the corpse and climbed in. Her heart pounding above her chest, she waited. Some minutes later, her wait was amply rewarded as the jailer came in, and began nailing the coffin. She knew that with each nail, she was closer to her freedom. Soon, she felt the coffin being lifted and dropped in the back of the wagon. She did not make a sound as the coffin hit the ground. Soon, after sand was poured on the coffin, she heard no more noise. "I'm free at last!" she kept saying to herself.
After a long time, she started to get worried. Why hadn't the jailer come as planned? As anxiety took the better part of her, she brought out a lighter and examined the corpse beside her. Lo and behold, IT WAS THE JAILER, HER FRIEND!

Many times, we feel we've got life all mapped out, everything planned and set in motion. Just be wise and heed this adage, 'Man proposes, but God disposes'. God's plan and purpose for our lives is the best and, believe me, is worth waiting for. ( Jer. 29:11)
